Was I Ever Really Young?

Two incidents this week:

1. A new coworker started on Monday. We got to talking, and he asked me how long I've been with the company. Two and a half years, I told him. It didn't hit me until later, when I sat back down in my office and thought about it. Two and a half years! That's 10 percent of my life.

2. We got our first big snowfall of the season late Thursday night into Friday morning. It wasn't anything major, somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-8 inches. Much to my chagrin, when I went to clean off and dig out my car, I discovered that the plows (I park on the street) had pushed a pile of snow all around the car -- maybe two feet deep by three feet wide. So I grabbed the shovel and started digging. I don't know how long it took, but I worked up a ferocious sweat beneath all the wool I had on. And when I woke up this morning, my twenty-five-year old muscles were aching. My poor back.
